As a child, Dr. Liz struggled with a condition called severe molar incisor hypomineralization. She was referred to a pediatric dentist at age 6, where her doctors always made her feel safe. Despite her extensive treatment, she grew up loving the dentist. Add in a dental injury from water polo and three years of braces, and Dr. Liz had plenty of childhood experiences to help her decide “what she wanted to be when she grew up.” Pediatric dentistry has always felt less like a career decision, and more of a return home for her. Her greatest goal is to provide the same positive, safe experience for all of her patients and their families.

Dr. Liz has extensive training in all forms of behavior management techniques to help your child feel safe and comfortable at the dentist. Most often, she is able to complete treatment with her gentle personality and laughing gas alone. Depending on your child’s needs, Dr. Liz also has years of experience in sedation dentistry. Working alongside teams of anesthesia doctors, she has completed hundreds of cases under IV sedation and general anesthesia. She loves working with children with special needs, medically complex children, and children with dental phobias. Dr. Duran also speaks Spanish.

Dr. Liz lives in Rockford with her husband, baby daughter, and sweet cat, Stella. When she’s not busy playing with her daughter, Dr. Liz loves to play piano and flute, work out, and cook healthy meals for her friends and family.
